The degree
of insulation will depend on the type of material the underlay
is made from and it's thickness and density.
One key
area when considering thermal properties is where under-floor heating is fitted.
Ball & Young recommend underlays with thermal resistance
values greater than 1.5 Tog should not be used over under-floor
heating as these products will restrict the flow of heat.
If in any doubt seek consultation with the under-floor heating
manufacturers before fitting any floor covering.
Cloud 9 underlays are excellent insulators.
Roma underlay has the lowest thermal resistance in the Ball & Young range.
Thermal
resistance is measured to BS 4745:1980 (ISO 5085)
.
